Sandwich Shapes: Cookie Cutters for Lunchtime Fun
With fewer ingredients are needed to make a fun faces shaped sandwich, it is sure cool to bring a cheesy smile to your child’s face. To make 4-6 servings of fun sandwich shapes all you need are eight slices of medium white bread as well as brown bread. Then, it is up to you to decide your favorite fillings to go with your sandwiches. Some kids would like to have a ham or turkey with cheese while the other kids might prefer the chicken ‘n’ mayonnaise sandwiches.

Basically the ingredients for making shaped sandwiches for fun lunch hour are butter or margarine, you shall need mayonnaise for spreading, four thin slices of ham or turkey, alternatively four thin slices of chicken roll and four square slices of processed cheese. For garnish, you might need shredded lettuce, radishes, baby tomatoes, mustard or any kinds of vegetables. Also keep in mind that to avoid having a squished sandwich, you could cut the individual sandwich items and later assemble. I found this would make firm sandwiches instead of flat and squishy sandwich shapes.

Step 1: Using the cookie cutter to shape all slices of white and brown breads out on the chopping board. Continue cutting the rest of slices of ham or turkey, cheese and chicken roll. You could use any cookie cutters as you like but a variety of different sizes are best so that less sandwich waste.
Step 2: Then, lightly spread one side of bread with butter or margarine. Note – In case you need to soften the butter or margarine, microwave it on 50% medium heat for about 15 seconds or until it is soft. Or else, 30 minutes before hand take the butter or margarine out of the fridge.
Step 3: To make either turkey or ham cheese sandwiches, place a slice of ham or turkey on the slices of the bread. Then put each four slices of cheese on top of the ham or turkey. If you are making the chicken ‘n’ mayonnaise sandwiches, put a slice of chicken on the each slice of bread and spread a little mayonnaise on top of it.
Step 4: Use the remaining eight slices of brown bread to make the sandwich lids.

Step 5: Arrange the sandwiches on a serving plate, overlapping them slightly. You might like to try to mix and match the colors of the bread when you arrange the sandwiches. For example, lay out a slice of brown bread for the bottom of the sandwich and a slice of white bread for the top alternately.
Step 6: Garnish the plate with shredded lettuce, radishes or baby tomatoes as well as mustard around the edges. Wrap the serving plate with clear plastic film and keep it cold in the fridge.
When you think that you are ready to eat the sandwich shapes, take them out of the fridge and have a fun and healthy lunchtime.
